Cannabis 'to be legalised in the UK' , say MPs

It has been foretold by the cross-party MPs on an exploratory expedition in Canada that within five to ten years the use of cannabis will be completely legalized in UK. In 2018, from the group of seven Countries, Canada is the first to permit leisure use of drug. One of the three politicians of the group had a major change in his perspective.

Labour’s David Lammy is now against his party’s View point and in support of the legalization of the drug. There is a Radio 1 Newsbeat documentary called Legalising Weed: Canada’s Story and all three of the Mr Lammy, Conservative Jonathan Djanogly and Liberal Democrat Sir Norman Lamb were spotted on their way to the documentary.

Cannabis is labeled as Class B drug in UK and anyone possessing it could end up in prison for up to 5 years. However, there has been a shift in approach towards medicinal cannabis products, which can now be legally prescribed to some patients. Some changes have been made as some of the medical cannabis products can be prescribed to patients if needed. Many have suggested that the recreational use of the cannabis is preceded by its medical use.

After returning from visiting Toronto Tottenham MP David Lammy said that “I want the market legalized, regulated and taken away from crime gangs,”. “For young people not to be criminalized by use and properly educated”. “I want to see the strength of the stuff reduced, labelled and properly organized in this country.”

The idea of legalizing cannabis in UK is already supported by The Liberal Democrat Party. A lot of people are now saying that use of cannabis is ok. For instance. Sir Norman Lamb Member of the parliament for north Norfolk was the head of the policy decision. In Canada, Whilsh wanted to lawfully use cannabis oil to treat sleeping disorder. But he was very aware that such a product would be illegal in the UK. He is the only Member of the Parliament of UK who used Cannabis made product on camera.

“Taking this oil is purely for sleeping for relaxation, I will take it before bed and before my flight home. It is difficult to find cannabis oil lawfully in UK as it intoxicates the user and contains THC.

“I was really anxious because I was chairing the technology and science select committee and I was travelling back over night, and I thought if I get back with no sleep it will be a challenge.”

He said that it helped him sleep but didn’t intoxicate his mind. “I slept incredibly well.” “I took the drops and I slept very well on the plane home, I actually slept through breakfast.”

A UK-based campaign group (Volte Face) which wants the UK to legalize the drug organized a trip. MPX, A North American cannabis company part sponsors the campaign group. It was suggested by Newsbeats that British politicians were influenced by them with money.

Boyes, MPX CEO, said that “We’re moving it away from organized crime to a legitimate commercial industry,” . “We’ve had a lot of UK investors invest in our company and we’re moving into six countries.” “A lot of the money we have raised has come out of the UK, so I don’t consider it interfering with other people’s politics and a lot of the expenses have been born by themselves.”

Sir Norman Lamb and David Lammy funded their own flights and accommodation. MPs know that there have been some difficulties in experience with Canada. Piper Courtenay told us in a documentary whose title is Cannabis Editor for a weekly newspaper that in which way illegal “gray” cannabis providers flourish. If limits are put on the cannabis products but they are licensed it means that they would still exist. She also said that

“It’s certainly better than the legal product I have tried so far, because they genuinely care about growing good craft cannabis,” .

The MP’s on the trip believed that cannabis would be legalizes\d in UK as it is in Canada in the period of ten years. But Jonathan Djanogly, was given his party name, the most conservative with his predictions. He said that.

“I think we have got a lot to learn before the legalization of recreational cannabis, which I think will happen at some point,” “I think we’re on a 10 to 15 year cycle which would mirror what has happened in Canada.”

Some also think that it would be legalized in the period of 5 years or earlier. The Government has another perspective that it would not change the law on the legalization of the use of cannabis.

“The legalization of these substances would not eliminate the crime committed by the illicit trade, nor would it address the harms associated with drug dependence and the misery they can cause to families and society.” Said a home office spokes person.
